Usher received some unwanted attention on social media this week after he was accused of paying a stripper with bills featuring his face rather than actual money.
A dancer in Las Vegas shared a photo of the $100, $20, and $1 bills she received after she “danced all night for Usher” — all clearly fake and with his photo and name plastered across the front.
Her friend reposted the pic, calling it “disrespectful” and “foul.”
“Exactly why we stay away from celebs most of the time they suck!!!!!!!!!” she wrote. “Working so hard to get nothing in return! This is a joke!! Their job is to entertain, take your cheap ass back home!!!!!”
People were not amused at the singer’s apparent version of tipping. Usher may like money with his face on it, but if the real world doesn’t take it, it’s pretty useless to the rest of us.
But the internet at least had some fun with the whole controversy.
However, after everything went viral, the strip club is claiming Usher’s people actually just left his face money as a joke/promotion for his Vegas residency, and that he actually paid up very well in real money.
The dancer who originally shared the photo now says that people ran with her post and made the assumption that Usher only tipped in fake money rather than an odd combo — but she also said on her Instagram stories that they should only have been leaving behind money with some sort of “trade in value.”
