Warning: spoilers for The Mandalorian are ahead.
Fans of Star Wars have a trend where they videotape themselves seeing big moments revealed from the ongoing franchise reveals. In Season 2 of The Mandalorian, the grand finale is the appearance of beloved hero Luke Skywalker, resurrected.
YouTuber Star Wars Theory makes content about everything Star Wars, so he recorded himself watching this moment and getting pretty emotional.
According to Daily Dot, there were people who had a problem with this display. It started with just regular trolls accusing the YouTuber of being a phony and forcing the tears for clout.
And then for some reason, LucasFilm executive Pablo Hidalgo decided to get involved. In a reply that has since been deleted, Hidalgo wrote "emotions are not for sharing."
After some blowback, Hidalgo made that reply his Twitter header and also went on private.
Star Wars Theory responded to Hidalgo with another YouTube video and was obviously very unhappy with the call out. We all deserve our emotions!!!
There are a lot of people who support Star Wars Theory and seem to think Hidalgo is way out of line. They want an apology from LucasFilm:
There are also a lot of people who think Hidalgo was being sarcastic and that he was actually defending the YouTube tears.
Either way, executives should probably stay out of fanboy fights on Twitter. It only makes things worse.
