It doesn’t seem impossible that you would randomly run into Snoop Dogg out somewhere in Los Angeles, unless he’s hanging out in a private garden with Martha Stewart. He has always been a man of the people.
So it’s understandable that someone might meet his professional lookalike and take him for the real Snoop Dogg. On Sunday, this exact thing happened to the mom of She Rates Dogs podcast co-host Mat George, who shared his mother posing with a guy named Eric Finch. Eric Finch looks a whole lot like Snoop Dogg.
“I’ve been in LA for a year and haven’t seen a single celebrity,” George wrote. “My mom comes for a weekend and meets Snoop Dogg.”
While not everyone knew it was Finch, most people knew immediately it wasn’t Snoop Dogg, and they were’t quick to point that out.
George hasn’t deleted the tweet, but he did check in and say, “Can everyone stop saying it’s not Snoop Dogg. My mom’s gonna be heartbroken the next time she logs onto Twitter.”
For some reason, that strikes me as a joke, and I’m wondering if he has known the whole time that his mom got taken in. Finch is not an obscure person, he gets hired for television and party gigs and he gets stopped by people who think he’s Snoop.
“People would just surround us sometimes,” he said in an article from Culture Trip. “It can be very hard and demanding. You’re just like a celebrity, but you don’t get the pay.”
Before his current career, he worked in the U.S. Navy for twenty years, so this has been a change. And one he loves:
“I’ll take whatever comes,” he said. “It’s not about the fame and the fortune. It’s about something I enjoy doing. It’s breathtaking to me. There are no words that can even describe what it feels like to be an entertainer.”
