There have been a lot of memes this season, as NBA Twitter worked overtime to dunk on their own favorite form of entertainment. And thank goodness they did because they were ready when The Milwaukee Bucks became NBA champions for the first time in 50 years, according to The New York Times.
The Bucks beat the Phoenix Suns with Giannis Antetokounmpo supporting his team—by being the star of it.
Twitter was shouting out Giannis, and making hay over the Suns’ losses, which were almost as notable as the Bucks’ wins. There was also a callback to the Suns in four guy, who told off his fellow sports fans with a dramatic four-fingers up in the air gesture. Yes, four. He predicted the exact opposite of what happened, and yet there’s a certain synchronicity to the whole thing.
