DaBaby is doing an about-face after Megan Thee Stallion called him out on Twitter for seemingly supporting Tory Lanez, the man who shot her not too long ago. It seems particularly acrimonious because Megan apparently believed DaBaby was in her corner —and betrayal hurts.
Tory Lanez released his collaboration with DaBaby earlier this month, Rap-Up reports, and at the time Megan Thee Stallion treated it like it was a joke, or like Lanez was issuing a song without DaBaby’s permission:
But then on Saturday, it looks like DaBaby retweeted a fan who said it seemed like he was cool with Tory Lanez because they “both shot somebody and don’t have to do no jail time.”
That’s pretty offensive alone, but the idea that DaBaby found the situation amusing would bound to be upsetting. DaBaby tried to say the retweet was an accident and that he has been trying to un-retweet it to no avail. It’s a conspiracy, you see:
Megan saw the RT and put DaBaby on blast, saying he supports her in private and does something different in public for clout.
“This situation ain’t no damn ‘bee’’ and I really wish people would stop down playing it like it’s some internet shit for likes and retweets,” she wrote.
DaBaby tried some classic gaslighting, implying that Megan was confused about what was happening or something.
“You done let these folks get the best of you thug. ion got no bad energy for ya,” he wrote.
“My stance hasn’t changed at all YOURS has,” she responded. “We already spoke abt this in private and you specifically said ‘that ain’t even no good business move why would I promote that sh-t’ but now this ain’t your ‘beef’ ? That ain’t real. But you stay on ya ‘business’ my g.”
DaBaby got even more insulting, saying he doesn’t fight with his girlfriends, he’s not fighting with someone else’s girlfriend.
That’s when Megan’s actual boyfriend, Pardison Fontaine, started tweeting.
“You a clown ass n—a doin clown ass sh-t then tryin to back pedal,” he wrote. Then he dragged anyone who “CONDONES IT AFFILIATES THEY SELF WITH STANDS BESIDE THAT TYPE OF BEHAVIOR” meaning, shooting a woman.
The public fight has ceased, but who knows what they’re talking about now in private.
