Lil Xan is coming clean about how his ex-manager allegedly supplied him with drugs, enabling an addiction that threatened his life.
The rapper has spoken openly about how taking prescription drugs for anxiety at 18 gradually warped into an ongoing drug problem that he has reportedly since kicked.
“It was really bad,” he said on 60 Minutes over the summer. “I looked in the mirror and I’m like — it was just that moment you know, like, if I keep doing this, I’m gonna die soon.”
But this week, Xan accused former manager Stat Quo of making his substance abuse problems worse.
“Do you guys remember the whole Lil Peep, the story when his management was giving him drugs and it just wasn’t helping out and all that?” he asked in a video. “That happened to me on tour. My manager, well I don’t even like to call him my manager anymore, Stat Quo, remember that name, Stat Quo.
“Because when I was on tour through 2018 to two thousand whatever, the world tours with Nicki and Juice and all that. I was a drug addict back then, right? And my manager was supplying me with the drugs.”
Lil Xan went on to detail how Stat Quo allegedly made calls anytime withdrawal was affecting his ability to perform, paying exorbitant amounts of money to have drugs shipped directly to wherever they were on the tour.
“I’m really feeling like I should take him to court,” he continued. “Because that was a time I almost died from the drugs.”
After his story circulated, Xan added an update on Instagram, clarifying that he can’t put “100% of the blame” on his manager for his drug problems.
“I was a drug addict,” he elaborated. “Am I telling you that he was doing nothing but speeding up my drug use by supplying me the very pills that could’ve killed me? YES!
“I’m making this public because I know in my heart this happens way too often and it’s how we end up losing some of the greatest artists way [too] young… These people must answer for [their] crimes.”
Stat Quo doesn’t appear to have commented on Lil Xan’s accusations as of yet.
