Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West very early this year. While he initially seemed to be accepting it, in the last month Kanye has been trying hard to get Kim back in his life. Her response has been to file documents that would make her “legally single,” according to TMZ. That means that she would officially no longer be Kanye’s wife, though the divorce proceedings would continue to address their property and custody arrangements.

She’s also not technically allowed to marry anyone else until the divorce goes through, so in a way, it feels like a symbolic response to Kanye insisting that they’re still technically married and posting photos of them kissing to his IG Stories.

The agreement would also remove the “West” from her name, storing her maiden name. Interestingly, the name on her social media is still her married name.

Kanye gave several speeches over Thanksgiving weekend about the “misactions” he took that worked Kim’s last word and ended their marriage. Then this week, hours before Kim filed, she was in attendance at a concert with Drake and her ex, and Kanye changed the lyrics of “Runaway” to say, “I need you to run right back to me, baby / More specifically, Kimberly.”

Kimberly is not running back to the man anytime soon, based on the legalities and her continued relationship with comedian Pete Davidson.
