Although Kanye West hasn’t spoken publicly about his ongoing divorce from Kim Kardashian, some lyrics from his new album, Donda, have fans speculating that his own infidelity may have played a role.
The song “Hurricane” features a series of lines suggesting that Kanye stepped out on Kim at some point after their second child was born in 2015:
Once the internet ran wild with the speculation, anonymous sources came forward to claim Kanye’s infidelity was common knowledge among those who worked closely with him.
“On his Saint Pablo Tour, he was flipping out in front of his team, confessing to sleeping with girls behind Kim’s back,” one such source told The Sun. “He even said he’d been f—king groupies and went into insane detail about his sex sessions, it was very graphic, his language was unreal.”
The source also said that Kim “clearly put up with a lot in their marriage and still stood by him until it was finally too much for her.”
At the moment, we have no idea what Kim knew when, but she and Kanye did have two more children together even after the Saint Pablo Tour in 2016, and obviously stayed together for several more years.
But the appearance of repeated infidelity on Kanye’s part does add an interesting layer to the recent listening parties for Donda. Not only was Kim always present and supporting Kanye, but at the final party, she actually came out in a wedding dress and joined him on stage, leading to speculation that their relationship may be rekindled.
The two reportedly aren’t together at the moment, but sources claim both have expressed an openness to that changing in the future. And another source told People that some of Kanye’s Donda lyrics are “in a way [Kanye’s] testimony of everything he did wrong and his apology and taking accountability.”
Of course, a marriage takes more work than confessing your sins to the world via song and lighting yourself on fire at a listening party, but fans are eager to see what happens with the former power couple.
