A man named Jumanne Way has gained some notoriety after pulling a pretty bizarre stunt at his job working behind a counter in a Subway franchise. He evidently did it to get the attention of rapper Meek Mill, tweeting a video of himself trashing his workstation. He spills food and fixings all over the floor, making eye contact with the camera.
“Tell Meek Mill to sign me,” the man says while vandalizing the store. “Let him know, I’m trying to get signed to DreamChasers. F-ck all this Subway shit. F-ck all this Subway shit, bro. At Meek Mill, let him know I’m trying to get signed. I’m deadass. I’m done working at Subway. Deadass.”
In the seemingly deleted original, he continues, “Let him know, DreamChasers, I’m not with none of this clout-chasing shit, bro. All of this clout-chasing shit is temporary, bro. Deadass. I don’t want to do this. I really don’t want to be doing none of this.”
Afterward, he said, “I gotta clean all this up. This is the aftermath. I’m trying to reach out to Meek. Like I said, or anybody that’s in a position to help put me in a better position. This right here, bro, this is like…I don’t think y’all know how much I had to go through to get to this point, that this became acceptable to me. This isn’t…this is crazy, man.”
The man’s behavior was a topic of much discussion online, probably because it’s so weird. You trash the place then clean it up? You put food in the toilet? You think Meek Mill cares about any of this?
But in a follow-up video, Way claims that he knew he’d get all the attention and that’s why he did it.
Meek Mill has not seemed to respond, probably because he doesn’t want to start a trend where people hoping to get signed make viral videos destroying stuff on his behalf. Subway, though, has responded, telling Newsweek that Way has been fired.
“Subway and our network of franchisees take health and food safety extremely seriously and don’t condone any behavior that violates our strict policies in these areas,” the statement read.
It’s all part of the grind.
