A clip from an interview with Jaden Smith went viral recently and it is no surprise: Smith mocks his generation for not being serious in the video and in turn sounds extremely pretentious.
He told the interviewer that he preferred talking to adults as a child, and wanted to have more intellectually-stimulating conversations than taking selfies.
“I spent my childhood with more adults than kids my age, because I was picking up more things from adults,” Smith says in the interview. “I hang out with other people that are my age and they’re just [unintelligible mocking noises] Bro! My phone, selfie!”
He went on to say, “I’m like dude, can we talk about like the political and economic state of the world right now? Can we talk about what’s going on with the environment?”
The video was originally posted by BigBoyTV, and a short clip from it has gone viral on Twitter with users mocking Smith’s pompous way of speaking.
The comments point out how ridiculous Smith sounds, even at 23 years old, and note that he is the son of wealthy celebrities, making him one himself. People on Twitter are memeing Smith’s world-weary attitude, comparing him to the way Boomers talk about Millennials (who are all older than he is).
“8 year old Jaden smith when jada gave him a spider man themed birthday party instead of a book study on the war of mesopotamia,” one user posted along with a sad SpongeBob image.
Another user posted a graphic of a pseudo-intellectual with a cocktail and glasses with a brain so large he’s using it as an armchair. They added along with the graphic, “How Jaden Smith felt like when he said ‘bro can we talk about the political and economic state of the world right now’ to a bunch of middle schoolers.”

While he didn’t say anything particularly controversial, the internet is seemingly united against Smith’s snooty attitude about his peers.
