Bhad Bhabie is calling out the people who have accused her of blackfishing after allegedly setting a trap to see what everyone would say.
The rapper, whose real name is Danielle Bregoli, posted a video to TikTok in which she was almost unrecognizable compared to her recent looks.
“It’s giving off-brand Cardi,” one viewer wrote of her change in appearance.
The video itself was just Bregoli jumping on a TikTok trend, carrying a number of pricy handbags and lip-syncing along to dialogue that says, “Golly gee, I sure do look like the disappointment of the family, but isn’t it funny how I make the most f—king money?”
An overwhelming number of viewers commented about how different she looks, with some bordering on accusing the rapper of blackfishing again.
“Not da lightskin black woman cosplay,” wrote @armlegpants.
“Why she look black n white at the same time,” asked @tenished.
Another viewer told Bregoli that he “legit thought you were light skin Black or Hispanic before seeing the username.”
But Bhad Bhabie now says it was all a test.
“I just want y’all to know that y’all failed the test. You want me to tell you what the test was?” she asked in a later video. “We did a wig that had no type of curl to it, no type of natural curl to it, and we did makeup lighter than my skin. Barely any contour. Just to see if y’all would still make the comments. And you did.”
Bregoli has quietly refuted accusations of blackfishing in the past, which generally refers to people altering their appearance to look darker or take on physical attributes more commonly associated with Black people.
But now, the “cash me outside” girl feels like her alleged trap proves that any criticisms are just people hating on her.
“So now I know it’s not about me actually — ‘Oh, she looks this,’ ‘Oh she’s trying to look that.’ It’s literally just that y’all want a famous person to respond to you. That’s all it is,” she said. “You’re figured out. I win, you lose.”
