Three arrests have been made after an Instagram live video showed adults harassing and slapping a 12-year-old boy for “doing gay sh*t.”
The video first made the rounds back in June. In it, a young boy is being confronted by several adults who are trying to shame him.
“You still doing gay sh*t,” one man says, grabbing the boy’s head. “You think this on the side of your head for no reason?”
The word “GAY” had been shaved into the side of the boy’s head. The man then slaps the boy’s head and shoves him as he continues to interrogate him.
The Atlanta Police Department was eventually able to gather tips and discover the identity of the people assaulting the child.
Lorkeyla Jamia Spencer, Brittney Monique Mills, and Jarrode Richards-Nwankwo were arrested last week for cruelty to children, with Richards-Nwankwo receiving an additional battery charge.
“The behavior in this social media post was difficult to watch and is absolutely unacceptable,” read a statement from Atlanta PD.
They also stated that the boy was removed from his home and placed in the custody of the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services on Sunday night.
Per Gaye Magazine, a video posted after the original Instagram went viral showed the child seemingly being coached to say that his brother and sister hadn’t been abusing him.
“They were just showing me [that I] need to stop doing that,” he said. “I just wanted to get this off of my sister, like my sister didn’t do nothing or my brother, they were just showing me the right thing to do.”
